Edward Castro has joined the City School District of New Rochelle as the Director of Family and Community Engagement. Here, he offers an introduction:
As the new Family and Community Engagement Director for the City School District of New Rochelle, I hope to partner with our community to build upon the family and community engagement already present in our schools. For (almost) the past decade, I have worked in New York City and Chicago public schools leveraging community partnerships to enhance student learning and to identify opportunities to maximize efficient collaboration while meeting our schools’ needs.
My goal is to further develop collaboration and communication among schools, community partners, and families to best support students as they progress through our schools. Aligning stakeholders toward a common goal has enabled me to increase the support available for alternative high school programs and schools in low-income neighborhoods in Boston, Chicago, and New York City. I look forward to connecting with our dedicated staff and dynamic community to support and expand our students’ achievement and success.
