Jefferson Elementary School

Several City School District of New Rochelle schools mark Hispanic Heritage Month through lessons, events and ceremonies. Jefferson Elementary Students partnered with Spanish teacher Hilaire Escaladas to do a writing activity, then to create a poster honoring well-known people of Hispanic heritage, including Selena Quintanilla, Cesar Chavez, Juan Herrera, Roberto Clemente, Sonia Sotomayor, Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, and Ellen Ochoa. Students learned about their importance and impact, as well as where they hail from.
