Congratulations to our Huguenot modified, junior varsity and varsity cheerleading teams for hosting the annual New Ro Cheer Competition recently. Over 20 teams participated, and it was a great success. Our modified team finished in second place and the varsity and junior varsity teams took third place in their divisions.
The boys and girls indoor track teams competed in the county championships on Sunday at the Armory. The girls finished fourth in a field of 22 teams. Olivia Moxey took second in the 55-meter and in the pole vault. The girls 4 x 200 Relay Team of Kylie Griffith, Jaylee Hewitt, Eko Dodd-Brown, Kaela Godfrey took first place. On the boys' side Jabari Clarke placed second in the long jump with a distance of 20' 2-1/2".
The Wrestling Team took fourth place overall as the County Championships last Saturday at John Jay Cross River. Based on their performance, the following earned All-County:
Mariella Koufalis (102) – fifth place; Zaeem Jamsheed (110) – fifth place; Jonas Torres (118) – second place; Dallis Thomas (170) - third place; and Steven Burrell (215) – first place. Burrell also was named Most Outstanding Wrestler among all seniors in the tournament.

Sign-ups for the spring sports season on FamilyID will begin on Feb. 13 at 9 a.m. for the high school and Feb. 27 at 9 a.m. for the modified teams. The spring sports season for the high school will begin on March 14 and March 28 for the modified.
